Team WA Closes National Event Series with Strong Results at Queensland International Open

The 2025 Queensland International Open, part of Judo Australia’s National Event Series (NES), took place from Friday, 26 September to Sunday, 28 September. As the final stop on the 2025 NES calendar, the event drew top competitors from around the country for three days of high-level judo.

Team WA finished the series on a high, bringing home 4 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze.

Gold Medalists

  • Kohsei Toyoshima (UWA Judo Club) — Senior Men / -73 kg
  • Joshua Shipton (UWA Judo Club) — Senior Men / -100 kg
  • Zechariah Navea (Perth Judo Club) — Intermediate Men (Cadets) / -55 kg
  • Zechariah Navea (Perth Judo Club) — U15 Boys / U55 kg

Silver Medalists

  • Estela Hogarth (UWA Judo Club) — Senior Women / -70 kg
  • Angus Baird (UWA Judo Club) — Senior Men / -90 kg
  • Logan Ramsden (Kano Judo Schools) — U15 Boys / U50 kg

Bronze Medalists

  • Alexander Vasilyev (UWA Judo Club) — Senior Men / -81 kg
